Sultan Pahang Rules for 40 Years

The Sultan of Pahang has been on the throne for 40 year, May 1974 to May 2014.

The Sultan assumed the position as the ruler in 7 May 1974 at the age of 44. That was saddening time on the departure of his late father, Sultan Abu Bakar Ri'ayatuddin.

He is close to his subjects, and often goes beyond the normal protocol to provide comfort in times of calamity and tragedy.

Award by Sultan Perak

Dato' Albert Chang Si Fock was awarded D.P.M.P (Darjah Dato' Paduka Mahkota Perak) which carries the title Dato'.

The award was conferred by The Sultan of Perak, Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Sultan Perak Darul Ridzuan, Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Yussuf Izzuddin Shah Ghafarullah-lah.

Malacca Awards 2013

The year 2013 offered something different. The previous Chief Minister was contesting for the Parliament and unfortunately he lost in the election. A new chief Minister held the office and in the last awards ceremony, he was bestowed the title of Datuk Seri.

In conjunction with the 75th birthday of Yang Dipertua Negeri Melaka, Tun Khalil Yaakob, 901 recipients were receiving honour of various kind.

The followings are the list of recipients. Leading the recipient was the new chief minister.
1. Darjah Gemilang Seri Melaka (DGSM) - Datuk Idris Haron - Malacca Chief Minister. The award carries the title "Datuk Seri".

2. Darjah Cemerlang Seri Melaka (awarded to 10 peoples)
Among the recipients of the DCSM which carries the title "Datuk Wira" were the Malaysian Armed Forces chief General Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin; Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar and State Education, Higher Education, Science and Technology Committee chairman Datuk Yunus Husin. Others include Mamee Double Decker (M) Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Pang Tee Nam and Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Azhar Abdul Hamid.

3. Darjah Mulia Seri Melaka (DMSM)(14),
Some of the recipients of the DMSM which carries the title "Datuk" are State Corporate Affairs, Human Resources and NGOs Committee chairman Amiruddin Yusof; Home Ministry's Puspanita patron Datin Seri Hamidah Khamis; Putra Specialist Hospital (Malacca) Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Radhuana Salleh. Public Service Department deputy director-general (Development) Datuk Dr Sharifah Zarah Syed Ahmad; Army's Third Division commander Brig Gen Datuk Sheikh Mokhsin Sheikh Hassan; MPD 99 Sdn Bhd chief executive N Navaratnam; and S.P. Management and Agencies chief executive Phang Shee Pak

4. Darjah Pangkuan Seri Melaka (DPSM)(79),
 The recipients includes the Harimau Muda A (national Under-23 football squad) coach Ong Kim Swee, actor Rosyam Nor and Ramli Sarip is awarded DPSM (Honorary). The awards carry the title "Datuk". Also receiving the DPSM are Central Malacca District and Land Office district officer Rusnani Latip, Alor Gajah Municipal Council president Abu Bakar Abdul and Malacca Development Corporation general manager Ismail Lajen.

5. Darjah Seri Melaka (DSM)(35 recipients),

6. Bintang Cemerlang Melaka (BCM)(79 recipints),
 This includes Berita Harian Malacca Bureau chief Amirullah Andi Nur is among the recipients of the BCM this year.

7. Bintang Khidmat Terpuji (BKT)(120),

8. Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (PJK)(321),

9. Pingat Bakti Masyarakat (PBM)(218)

10 Pingat Khidmat Lama (PKL)(24).

The investiture was conducted at Dewan Seri Negeri here involves three sessions with the first tomorrow, second on Sunday and the third on Oct 24. Twenty-two people will receive their awards in the first session, 447 in the second and 432 in the third.

Abdul Taib Mahmud The Governor of Sarawak

It does not come as a surprise that he becomes the Governor of Sarawak. When the announcement was made that he would step down, the paper was quick to mention that the present governors term ended in Feb 2014, making way for Taib Mahmud to take over the post.

This is not the first time a politician becomes governors. Pahang set the record when Khalil Yaakub became the governor in 2004. He was not even from Melaka.

As published in the Malaysian NST on 11 December 2013, the followings are list of honours conferred by the Sultan of the State of Selangor in conjunction with the 68th birthday. A total of 102 wards was given.
