The Sultan of Selangor Honours 2012

In conjunction with the birthday of the Sultan of Selangor on 11 Dec 2012, 113 recipients of awards of various titles were announced. The list of awards are listed below:

1. DK11 - Darjah Kerabat 11 - this award is known to be given to the people within the circle of the family of the Sultan.
Recipients - The Tengku Arif Temenggong Selangor, Tengku Muhamad Yusof Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Ala'eddin Suleiman Shah.

2. SPMS - Seri Paduka Mahkota Selangor (SPMS) which carries the title "Datuk Seri".
Recipients :
- Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan
- The Navy Chief Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Jaafar
- The Sunway University College Pro-Chancellor Datuk Razman M. Hashim.

Melaka honours list 2012

A total of  368 recipients of various honorary titles were bestowed by the Yang di-Pertuan Negeri Melaka in conjunction with his 74th birthday. The event to be conducted at Dewan Seri Negeri, Ayer Keroh. on Sunday.

1. DCSM - Darjah Cemerlang Seri Melaka with the title Datuk Wira.
Six people are accorded the award. They are Tan Sri Ismail Omar, Datuk Dr Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah, Datuk Azman Mohd, Datuk Ameer Ali Mydin, Datuk Tan Chang Yong and Datuk Lee Wah Chong.

2. DMSM Darjah Muli Seri Melaka with the title Datuk.

Selangor Honours 2012

In conjunction with celebrated birthday of the Sultan of Selangor last Tuesday, 98 was accorded various titles and honors.


















Two of the recipients were bestowed the SPMS, Darjah Kebesaran Seri Peduka Mahkota Selangor which carry the title "Datuk Seri". The were Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin, The Armed Forces General and Tuan Arifin Zakaria, the Chief Justice.

Thirty two were awarded the titles of Datuk Seri, Datuk Setia and Datuk selected from 831 nominations received..

1. SSIS - Darjah Kebesaran Datuk Setia Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (Datuk Setia).
Among the recipients were, the former Selangor State Secretary, Datuk Ramli Mahmud.

2. DPMS - Darjah Kebesaran Datuk Paduka Mahkota Selangor with the title Datuk,
There were 15 recipients, among there were, Datuk Syed Danial Syed Ahmad, Mah Weng Kwai, Tan Sri Liew Kee Sin, ead Dr Thirumal C.M. Manikam and Prof Dr Fatimah Mohamed Arshad.

3. DSIS - Darjah Kebesaran Datuk Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah carrying the title Datuk.
There were 14 recipients including Prof Dr Tai Shzee Yew, Dr Aljafri Dr Abdul Majid Ismail and George Stewart Labrooy.

4. SMS- Setia Mahkota Selangor.
Thirteen individuals were receiving e the  (SMS) award.include Datuk A. Thaiveegan and Assoc Prof Dr Lim Swee Tin.

The Installation of the King of Malaysia

The King of Malaysia or Yang Dipertuan Agong is a constitutional king selected and elected for a period of 5 years.
The system is based on the practices in Negeri Sembilan, one of the state in Malaysia which rotate its "Yang Dipertuan Besar" every five years.



 The Agong is selected by the council of the rulers every 5 years. The first King of Malaysia was, the Yang dipertuan of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Abdul Rahman, was installed in 1957, before the nation of Malaysia was created. Until 2007, there were 13 sultans and Raja from various states that were elected to become the King of Malaysia. Not everyone of them completed the tenure, as some past away before the five year period. The installation ceremony was conducted in the old traditional Malay style with the special musical instrument called "nobat". They normally play the song "Raja Berangkat" or the installation song.

In conjunction with the birthday of the chief minister of Melaka on 8 Oct 20121, 266 people were awarded the state's titles.

Birthday of Sultan - Sultan Qaboos

While searching for the birthdays of Sultans and Malaysia, I came across the video of Birthday celebration of Sultan of Oman, Sultan Qaboos.

It is an awesome view of display riches and personal glorification beyond comprehension. I was thinking aloud.. if the country resources are fully developed, there is nothing to stop the Arab to be the leading power in the world.

The view of Sultan Qaboos birthday celebration brings us into the dream world of the price and princess as told in various epics, it seem almost beyond reality. I have not seen any such birthday celebration in Malaysia.

Johor Honors for the year 2012

The birthday of the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar was changed from April 8 to Nov 22. That mean, the recipients of the awards have to wait about 8 months for the gracious occasion.

In conjunction with the 54th birthday on 22 Nov 2012, the Sultan agreed to bestow titles on to his children and others. The list of the titles and the recipients are given below:

Selangor Honors 2009

In celebrating the birthday of the Sultan of Selangor in 2009, His Majesty agreed to confer various awards and honors. Leading the recipients were list of  Darjah Kerabat Yang Amat Dihormati (D.K). D.K is conferred to royal famillies and not for commoners.  Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir was accorded the Darjah Kerabat Selangor Kedua (DK II)  and Tengku Ahmad Shah Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah was given the Seri Paduka Mahkota Selangor.
