The King of Malaysia or Yang Dipertuan Agong is a constitutional king selected and elected for a period of 5 years.

The Agong is selected by the council of the rulers every 5 years. The first King of Malaysia was, the Yang dipertuan of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Abdul Rahman, was installed in 1957, before the nation of Malaysia was created. Until 2007, there were 13 sultans and Raja from various states that were elected to become the King of Malaysia. Not everyone of them completed the tenure, as some past away before the five year period. The installation ceremony was conducted in the old traditional Malay style with the special musical instrument called "nobat". They normally play the song "Raja Berangkat" or the installation song.
